Blackburn’s weaving tradition goes back to the 13th century, and after the Leeds and Liverpool Canal reached the town in 1810 it became known as the weaving capital of the world. Rows of terraced mill workers’ houses were built from the early 19th century onwards, the classic two-up two-down with a back yard, and these compact homes with their narrow stairs still make up much of the inner town. We fit stairlifts in these terraces regularly, as well as in the larger homes towards Wilpshire, Mellor and Langho.

Fitting Stairlifts Across Blackburn
Blackburn’s town centre sits on a low plain enclosed by hills such as Revidge and Billinge Hill, with the West Pennine Moors to the south and the Ribble Valley to the north. Inner streets are dominated by compact Victorian terraces, while homes on the hillsides and in the outer villages tend to be larger, with longer or turning staircases. From streets near Corporation Park and the Cathedral to homes out towards Witton Country Park, we survey each property individually and recommend the stairlift that suits its staircase.
