Salford’s name comes from the Old English for a ford by the willows, and the town received its charter around 1230. It became a major cotton centre in the Industrial Revolution, and Salford Docks opened in 1894 after the Manchester Ship Canal was completed. Older parts of the city are characterised by small Victorian terraced houses, with 1960s and 1970s flats and post-war estates in the outer districts. We fit stairlifts across all of them, from compact terrace stairs to homes in Worsley and Swinton.

Stairlifts Around the Irwell and the Quays
The River Irwell loops around Salford and forms its boundary with Manchester city centre, on largely flat ground that rises at Higher Broughton and Irlams o’ th’ Height. From terraces near Ordsall Hall to homes within reach of The Lowry and MediaCityUK, most Salford properties have a single staircase that suits a straight lift, while some newer flats and larger houses need more careful checks on access and landings. Our surveyor visits in person to measure and advise.
