Straight answers to the questions we are asked most about stairlift costs.
How much does a stairlift cost?
A reconditioned straight stairlift costs from £1,595 and a new one from £2,495. Curved stairlifts cost from £3,395 reconditioned and from £4,995 new. All of these prices include installation and VAT.
Are your prices fully installed?
Yes. The prices include the stairlift, fitting by our engineers, a safety demonstration and a parts and labour warranty (3 years on new, 2 years on reconditioned). Your written quote is fixed, with no hidden extras.
Do the prices include VAT?
Yes, they include VAT at 20%. If you have a disability or long-term illness, you can buy your stairlift VAT-free, so a £2,495 stairlift would cost £2,079.17. We handle the paperwork for you.
Why does a curved stairlift cost more?
A curved rail is designed and made to measure for your staircase, so it involves a detailed survey and manufacturing time. A straight rail is a standard product cut to length.
Is a reconditioned stairlift worth it?
For many people, yes. A reconditioned stairlift is refurbished and safety tested before fitting, costs considerably less than new, and comes with a 2-year parts and labour warranty.
Do you charge for the home survey?
No. The survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Our advisor measures your staircase and you receive a fixed written quote.
Can I get financial help with the cost?
Your local council may offer a Disabled Facilities Grant towards a stairlift if you are eligible, and qualifying customers can also buy VAT-free.
