Darwen grew into one of Lancashire’s largest mill towns, with India Mill and its landmark chimney at its heart, and the town was also a centre for paint and wallpaper making. Much of Darwen was built between about 1850 and 1900, so stone and brick Victorian terraces, many with cellars, make up a large part of the town. Stairs in these older terraces are often steep and narrow, and choosing a stairlift that fits them well is where a careful survey makes the difference.

Stairlifts for Darwen’s Valley Streets
Darwen lies in a valley among the West Pennine Moors, with the River Darwen running through the centre, moorland rising on either side and Jubilee Tower looking down from Darwen Moor. Many streets climb the valley sides, and some homes have steps up to the front door as well as steep stairs inside. We can supply outdoor stairlifts for external steps as well as indoor models. Whether you live near India Mill, Sunnyhurst Wood or out towards Hoddlesden, our surveyor will check every set of steps that matters to you.

Will a stairlift work during a power cut?
Yes. All stairlifts we supply include battery backup, keeping you mobile during power cuts. Batteries recharge automatically when the lift is parked at a charging point.
