Platinum Ultimate Heavy Duty Stairlift: Up to 25 Stone
Curved Stairs, a Higher Weight Limit, the Same Slim Rail
This is the stronger edition of Platinum’s Ultimate curved stairlift. The everyday Ultimate is built for riders up to 19 stone; this version is rated to 25 stone, which is 160 kg, so it suits heavier riders whose stairs bend, turn or have a half landing.
What makes it unusual is that the extra capacity comes without a change of rail. It travels on the same narrow round tube as the standard model, and that tube begins on the bottom tread, so the floor at the foot of the stairs stays free and the staircase looks no busier than it would with the lighter lift.
Every price is a starting price that includes installation, VAT and a parts and labour warranty (3 years on new, 2 years on reconditioned). Your exact price depends on your staircase and the options you choose, and we confirm it in writing after a free home survey.

Key Features
Rated to 25 Stone
Built to carry riders up to 160 kg on a bending staircase.
One Slim Tube
The heavier rating uses the same narrow rail as the standard Ultimate, so the extra strength does not show.
Clear Hall Floor
The tube starts on the first tread, so there is nothing to step over at the foot of the stairs.
Turns to Face the Landing
Swivel the seat by hand, or add the powered option and let the lift turn you round at the top.
Footrest at a Touch
No bending down to fold or lower the footplate.
Ready for Power Cuts
Every trip is battery driven, so an outage will not leave the rider stuck halfway.
Is the Platinum Ultimate Heavy Duty Right for You?
A good choice for
Riders between 19 and 25 stone whose stairs are not straight
Hallways where nothing can cross the floor at the foot of the stairs
Anyone wanting a higher-rated lift that still looks discreet
Tight or awkward bends that defeat other curved rails
Worth knowing
Above 25 stone on a curved staircase, the Bruno Elite curved is the better match, with a 30 stone rating
One Ultimate owner complained of shuddering and metallic noise through the bends. Platinum says a redesigned speed limiter has since cured this, so ask us which version your quote covers
Each tube is made to order for one staircase, so fitting follows a short manufacturing wait
Ultimate Heavy Duty or Bruno Elite Curved?
Of the curved lifts we fit, only three are rated above 20 stone. If the rider is under 25 stone, the Ultimate heavy duty is normally the lower-cost route, and it is the only one of these we can supply reconditioned. Past 25 stone, the Bruno Elite curved takes over. The Handicare 4000 can also be ordered with a 25 stone option, which we price once we have seen the stairs.
Heavy duty lifts for bending staircases, starting prices with fitting and VAT
Independent feedback on the Ultimate is hard to find, and none of what we found names the heavy duty edition. One owner described the lift juddering with a metal-on-metal sound as it went round the bends; Platinum later brought in a reworked speed limiter that it says stops that sound. Platinum’s Trustpilot listing covers every model the company makes yet carries only seven reviews, the average score is poor, and several of them mention breakdowns and long waits for spare parts.

Platinum Ultimate Heavy Duty Questions
Common questions about the Platinum Ultimate Heavy Duty.
How heavy can the rider be on the Platinum Ultimate heavy duty?
Up to 25 stone, or 160 kg. The standard Ultimate is rated to 19 stone, so this version adds six stone of capacity on the same rail.
What does the Ultimate heavy duty cost?
A reconditioned one starts at £5,495 and a new one at £6,995, with fitting and VAT included. The tube is shaped for your staircase alone, so we fix the final figure in writing once we have measured.
Does the heavy duty version need a bigger rail?
No. It runs on the same single round tube as the standard Ultimate, which is roughly 8 cm across.
What if the rider is over 25 stone?
On a bending staircase we would point you to the Bruno Elite curved, rated to 30 stone, which starts at £8,995 new.
Can it be bought without VAT?
Usually, if the rider has a disability or long-term illness. That takes a sixth off the price, and a council Disabled Facilities Grant may help with the rest.
