A Simple, Dependable Straight Stairlift

The Acorn 130 is a straight stairlift built for a single flight of stairs with no turns or landings. Its straightforward design makes it quick to fit.

We supply the Acorn 130 reconditioned: refurbished, safety tested and fitted with a 2-year parts and labour warranty. It carries users up to 20 stone, folds neatly when not in use, and has a seat that swivels at the top of the stairs so you can step off safely onto the landing.

Key Features

Swivel Seat

Turns and locks at 45° or 90° at the top, so you get off facing the landing rather than the stairs.

Slim When Folded

Seat, arms and footrest fold up to 310 mm, leaving the stairs clear for everyone else.

Battery Powered

Runs on batteries that charge when parked at a charge point, so a power cut will not leave you stranded.

Fixed to the Stairs

The rail is screwed to the treads, not the wall, so it suits most homes without building work.

Hinged Rail Option

If the rail would block a door at the foot of the stairs, a hinged section folds out of the way.

Outdoor Version

The same lift with a weather cover is available for garden or front steps.

Is the Acorn 130 Right for You?

A good choice for

  • A straight flight of stairs
  • A tight budget
  • A quick, simple installation
  • Users up to 20 stone (25 stone for heavy duty)

Worth knowing

  • It is for straight stairs only; for a bend, see the Acorn 180 or the other curved lifts we supply
  • Manual swivel as standard; powered swivel costs more
  • Needs about 670 mm at the top of the stairs to swivel

What Owners Say

Acorn has a large number of UK reviews (4.8 out of 5 from around 12,000 reviews on Trustpilot at the time of writing). Most reviews cover the company rather than the 130 specifically, but as the 130 is Acorn’s only straight lift, the recurring themes are a fair guide:

  • Praised: quick installation and polite, punctual engineers.
  • Criticised: a minority report breakdowns after the first year or slow out-of-hours callouts (mostly older UK forum posts and US reviews), a few mention stairs being measured incorrectly, and some older forum posts mention pushy selling of extended service plans.
  • Mixed: battery life, with some owners replacing batteries sooner than expected and others reporting years of use.

Can I buy a new Acorn 130 from you?

What is the weight limit of the Acorn 130?

The standard Acorn 130 carries up to 20 stone (127 kg). A heavy duty version carries up to 25 stone (159 kg).

Can the Acorn 130 go round a bend?

No. The 130 is for straight stairs only. Curved stairs need a made-to-measure curved rail.
